BILLINGS – The Sidney Eagles added another impressive mark to their Montana wrestling dynasty Saturday, setting a new Class A state tournament points record with 310.5 on their way to their second straight title.

The Eagles are the first Class A team to break the 300-point barrier. Havre set the previous mark of 297 points in 2015.

Four Sidney wrestlers won individual state titles: Aden Graves (132 pounds), Christian Dean (138), Riley Waters (160), and Jett Jones (182). Two other Eagles lost in championship matches.

“It was a fun season,” said Waters after his win. “We all made each other better in the wrestling room for sure.”

Havre finished a distant second in the team race with 178 points, but the Blue Ponies had the biggest Class A champion of the night in Martin Wilkie, who became the 34th four-time state winner in Montana history with a pin over Sidney’s Zander Burnison in 38 seconds at 145 pounds. Mick Chagnon (103 pounds) also won a state title for Havre.

Polson finished third with 128.5 points. Hunter Fritsch was the Pirates’ lone state champ at 170 pounds, while Frenchtown finished fourth at 126 with two state title winners, Walker Dyer (113 pounds) and Jake Bibler (120 pounds).
