Huntley Project, Joliet advance to District 4B boys championship

COLUMBUS – The top two seeds in the District 4B boys tournament will play for the title, after Huntley Project and Joliet won semifinals Friday afternoon.

Huntley Project put Columbus away early, leading 31-12 at halftime before cruising to a 55-35 win. Tim Rose scored a game-high 17 points, while Rylan DeVries added 13. The Red Devils shot 55 percent for the game, while the Cougars shot just 35 percent.

Ry Olson continued his torrid senior season in the second semifinal, leading his Joliet J-Hawks to a 44-33 win over Red Lodge. Olson scored 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

The two teams were tied 12-12 after the first quarter, but Joliet won the second 13-4 to take a 25-16 lead at half, and extended that to 39-27 after three.

Both Huntley Project and Joliet have clinched berths in the Southern B divisional. They’ll meet in the 4B championship Saturday at 6:15 p.m.
