KALISPELL — The first of three nights of PRCA rodeo riding and roping started at the Northwest Montana Fair in Kalispell on Thursday.

Dillon's Tristan Hansen started the night well with an 85-point ride in bareback. But Blade Elliott from Centerville, Alabama topped him later with a score of 90.

In steer wrestling, Helena's Timmy Sparring did well enough on a tough night for the cowboys, topping the performance in 7.8 seconds.

The Cut Bank pair of Nolan Conway and Shawn Bird put together the best team roping ride, in 7.9 seconds.

The Northwest Montana Fair hosts more PRCA action on Friday and Saturday night, with each performance starting at 7:30 p.m.
