How the tables have turned for Haven Meged's 2020 National Finals Rodeo.
After not placing in the first three rounds of the NFR, Meged completed his third straight night of placing in the money with his best performance yet, winning the sixth go-round of the tie-down roping at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
Meged, the reigning world champion in tie-down roping, completed his run in 6.8 seconds to win $26,231. The Miles City native moved up four spots in the world standings to No. 5 with $115,248 earned. Shad Mayfield, who did not place in the money on Tuesday, leads the world standings with $187,399.
Circle's Lisa Lockhart also had another big night at the NFR. After winning the third go-round on Saturday, Lockhart took second on Tuesday with a time of 17.07 seconds to win $20,731. Lockhart, who now resides in Oelrichs, South Dakota, moved up three spots to No. 4 in the world standings with $108,866. Hailey Kinsel, who did not place in the money on Tuesday, leads the world standings with $187,884.
For the third straight night, Billings' Clay Tryan and partner Jake Long of Coffeyville, Kansas, finished in second place in the team roping. Tryan and Long completed their run in 4.0 seconds to win $20,731. Tryan moved up one spot to No. 4 in the world standings for team roping headers with $124,886. Luke Brown, who placed in fourth on Tuesday, leads the world standings for headers with $155,652.
Helena's Chase Tryan and partner Brenten Hall of Jay, Oklahoma, did not place in the money in the team roping on Tuesday. Tryan fell three spots to No. 12 in the world standings for team roping heelers with $90,145.
Hillsdale, Wyoming's Brody Cress finished in sixth place in the saddle bronc with a score of 85 on Cover Girl to win $4,231. Cress moved up one spot to No. 3 in the world standings with $137,462. Wyatt Casper, who did not place in the money on Tuesday, leads the world standings in the saddle bronc with $233,830.
Deer Lodge's Chase Brooks did not place in the money for the second straight night, and fell one spot in the saddle bronc world standings to No. 7 with $106,881.
Stevensville's Richmond Champion also did not place in the money for the second consecutive night, but remains fifth in the world standings in the bareback riding with $119,700. Tim O'Connell, who placed sixth on Tuesday, leads the world standings with $191,453.
