Sunday proved fruitful for Chase and Clay Tryan.
Helena's Chase Tryan and partner Brenten Hall of Jay, Oklahoma, won the team roping in the fourth round of the 2020 National Finals Rodeo at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Tryan and Hall completed their run in 4.2 seconds to win $26,231.
"It was a good night (Sunday), and the steers were stronger," Hall said in a media release. "There was a 4.8 winning when we went, and I didn't really know if we could beat that time on that steer since he is pretty strong, so I was going to try to get on him as fast I could and it just worked out for us."
The win moved Tryan up to No. 6 from No. 14 in the world standings for heelers with $90,144.
"He does everything to finish the run for us," Hall said of Tryan. "If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be where I'm at. He took a chance a couple of years ago by pulling me out of the woods and taking me rodeoing with him, and I'll be forever grateful for that. He's the best partner a guy could ask for."
Right behind them was Clay Tryan of Billings and his partner, Jake Long of Coffeyville, Kansas. Tryan and Long completed their go-round in 4.8 seconds to finish in a three-way tie for second place in Sunday's performance.
