National Finals Rodeo: Brody Cress finishes 2nd; Richmond Champion also places in 7th go-round

Wednesday night was a quiet round for the local competitors at the 2020 National Finals Rodeo, but a couple managed to add more winnings to their total.

Hillsdale, Wyoming's Brody Cress took second in the seventh go-round of the saddle bronc riding at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Cress rode Hell Boy to a score of 90.5 to win $20,731. Cress remains in third place in the world standings with $158,193 with three rounds left at the NFR. Wyatt Casper of Miami, Texas, continues to lead the field in the world standings with $235,946.

Deer Lodge saddle bronc rider Chase Brooks did not place in the money on Wednesday after scoring a 79.5 on Crossfire. After placing in the opening four rounds, Brooks has missed placing in the money three straight nights. Brooks dropped one spot in the world standings to No. 8 with $106,881.

Stevensville bareback rider Richmond Champion placed back in the money after two straight nights just missing out. Champion scored an 81.5 on Mayhem to take fifth and win $6,769. Champion did drop one spot to No. 6 in the world standings with $126,470.

Chase and Clay Tryan finished out of the money on Wednesday in the team roping. For Billings' Clay Tryan, it ended a streak of three-straight nights with second-place finishes. Tryan moved down one spot to No. 5 with $124,886 for team roping headers while Helena's Chase Tryan also dropped one spot in the team roping heelers world standings to No. 13 with $90,145.

After winning the tie-down roping on Tuesday, Miles City's Haven Meged placed out of the money in the seventh go-round, ending three straight nights of placing for him. Meged completed his run in 14.3 seconds. Meged dropped two spots to No. 7 in the world standings with $115,248.

Circle's Lisa Lockhart also placed out of the money on Wednesday, one night after taking second. Lockhart completed her ride in 32.27 seconds. She fell two spots in the world standings to No. 6 with $108,866.
