ARLINGTON, Texas -- Dakota Louis was one of 13 riders to make the eight-second horn during Round 1 of the PBR World Finals on Thursday night.
The Browning bull rider scored an 89-point ride, good enough to tie for fifth place on the night. Brock Radford also scored an 89-point ride.
Derek Kolbaba has the Round 1 lead after scoring a 92.75.
Jess Lockwood wasn't so lucky in his return from injury. The two-time world champion was bucked by Undertaker in 3.61 seconds. Lockwood's challenge for a re-ride was denied, according to PBR reporter Justin Felisko.
Jose Vitor Leme, the top-ranked rider entering the Finals, tied for eighth Thursday, marking a ride of 87.5. That extended his lead over World No. 3 Kaique Pacheco, who had an 87-point ride on Thursday to finish 10th in Round 1.
Kolbaba was one of two riders to score better than 90 on Thursday, with Eduardo Aparecido placing second on the night with a 91.5-point ride. Tye Chandler was third at 89.5 and Mason Taylor was fourth at 89.25.
Round 2 gets under way at 9 p.m. (MT) Friday.
