Dawson Community College drops 4 to open baseball season

GLENDIVE - Dawson Community College's baseball men dropped all four games in a pair of season opening double headers at Northeastern Junior College (4-0).

In game one, Dylan Martin went the distance for the Bucs covering 4.2 innings pitched for his first complete game of the year in the losing effort. Freshman Harrison Kampf recorded his first career hit in the 3rd inning which would be the only hit for the Buccaneers in a 12-0 loss.

In game two, an 11-5 loss, pitchers Tyler Clapp and Anthony Good split time on the hill giving up only 7 hits over their 6 innings of work. The Buccaneer offense returned to form recording five runs on eleven hits with Andres Artola, Kyle Graham, and James Arend getting two hits each. Keenan O'Brien got two RBIs.

"We are not where we need to be, but we are headed in the right direction," said coach Jim McClure.

The Buccaneers dropped their nexts two at Northeastern Junior College by scores of 7-6 (F/8) and 6-2.

In game one, the Buccaneers (0-4) lost a back and forth match-up on a walk-off infield hit in extra innings. Austin Robertson went the distance and into extras covering 7.1 innings pitched in the losing effort. Keenan O'Brien and Liam O'Hea paced the offense combining for 5 hits and 3 RBIs.

In game two, the Buccaneers could not maintain their 2-0 lead after the first, giving up 3 runs in the second and third innings. Freshman Joe Schultz, in his first collegiate pitching appearance for the Bucs, threw 3 shutout innings, giving up only one hit while striking out two to keep the game close. Kayne McGee and James Arend drove in the only two Buccaneer runs in the first inning.

The Bucs are scheduled to return to action Saturday at Western Nebraska Community College. It is scheduled as a four-game series with two games on Saturday and two on Sunday.
