Missoula Sentinel defeats Great Falls High in battle of unbeaten teams

MISSOULA -- Missoula Sentinel High handed Great Falls High its first loss of the season with a 57-45 boys basketball win on Saturday afternoon at Sentinel's gym.

Junior Alex Germer led the Spartans with 17 points while fellow junior Tony Frohlich-Fair added 15 more as the Spartans improved to 4-0 on the season.

Sentinel grabbed an early 18-12 lead in the second quarter before Great Falls went on a run of its own with Tarel Rollins knocking down a 3-pointer to tie it 18-18. Sentinel would ultimately go into half up 25-23 after a layup by Parker Lindsay seconds before the buzzer.

Sentinel would start to distance itself in the third quarter, but Gabe Longin kept Great Falls in it with a 3-pointer at the buzzer to make it a 42-37 Sentinel lead. But Sentinel ran away from there. Germer and Frohlich-Fair combined to go 12 for 14 from the free throw line in the final two quarters for the Spartans.

Junior Hayden Kolb added 11 points for Sentinel which starts five juniors. Junior Drew Wyman led Great Falls with 20 points. The Bison fall to 5-1 with the loss.
