FRENCHTOWN -- Hamilton's Tristan Hanson fired a 2-under-par 70 at King Ranch Golf Course in Frenchtown on Thursday afternoon to win the two-day Frenchtown Invitational by nine strokes. Teammate Bryce Reed finished second.
Hanson grabbed the lead after Day 1 at the Ranch Club in Missoula, where he shot a 1-under 71. Hanson was the only golfer to shoot a round at or below par all weekend. He held a four-shot lead after Day 1 over Whitefish's Cameron Kahle. Kahle shot a 4-over 76 on Day 2 and finished in third place, 10 shots behind Hanson.
Hamilton wound up winning the team title with a two-day total of 626. Whitefish finished second at 675.
Corvallis' Mace Greenwood cruised to the girls individual title. Greenwood was the only girl to shoot in the 70s either day, carding a 76 on Day 1 and a 78 on Day 2. Her two-day total of 154 was good enough to win by 20 strokes over Whitefish's Ella Shaw.
Greenwood's strong showing wasn't enough for Corvallis to win the team title, though, as the Blue Devils finished second at 763 strokes. Whitefish, who had girls place second, fourth and sixth, finished at 750 strokes.
