Montana State Bobcats golf has strong showing in Hawaii tournament

KANE'OHE, Hawaii -- Montana State's Delaney Elliott and Coral Schulz each completed a season-best 18-hole score during the opening two rounds of play of the Bobcats' appearance at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational on Tuesday, March 10, at Kane'ohe Klipper Golf Course.

Schulz led MSU through the first round with her 1-over-par 73. She topped her previous season best by three strokes by carding two birdies and 14 pars. Elliott followed by leading the Bobcats during the second round. She tied her season-best score of even-par 72 over 18 holes by firing four birdies.

Elliott shot a first-round 78 and is tied for 38th with 150 strokes through two rounds. Schulz is tied for 61st at 155.

Rounding out MSU's lineup are Kelly Hooper, Lucia Prieto Romano and Sofia Rodriguez Todd. Hooper is tied for 66th at 157 (77-80), Prieto Romano is tied for 74th (82-77) and Rodriguez Todd is tied for 84th (80-82). The Bobcatss are 15th in the team standings with a total of 619 strokes following rounds of 308 and 311.

Third-ranked Arizona State sits atop the team leaderboard at 12-under (564). Linn Grant leads the individual standings after firing a 6-under-par (138) for the Sun Devils.

Montana State returns to action at 8 a.m. local time on Wednesday for the third round of play at the tournament hosted by Hawaii.
