BOZEMAN -- While there have been a few big coaching changes inside Montana State's athletic department these past two weeks, one coach is sticking around. Tricia Binford, the head women's basketball coach at MSU, signed a three-year contract renewal last Wednesday.
Binford, who is the longest-tenured coach at Montana State, is heading into her 15th season with the Bobcats. Her squad is currently 10-6 overall this year and sits atop the Big Sky Conference standings at 6-1 in league play. The Bobcat women haven't had a losing season since 2007-08.
Binford is grateful to keep calling Bozeman her home.
"It's a pretty special place with amazing leadership and I get to do what I love every day, and that's to coach these young ladies up. So, (my) family is really thankful and we just love it here in Bozeman," Binford said.
While the contract extension does signal the success Binford continues to experience at Montana State, her appetite to continue to set new milestones is far from satisfied.
"I just think every year you're trying to do a little bit better," said Binford. "I think one of the most special feelings I have is just the growth of the community and the fan base and the people that are committed to our program. They are a part of it. And it's just awesome and we want to continue to take the next step."
