BOZEMAN — In his first year as Montana State's men's basketball head coach, Danny Sprinkle wants to establish an identity of having a tough, physical defense.
His players are in full support of what he is envisioning for the long-term success of the program.
“I want to be a physical, defensive team that sits in gaps and makes you score over us," Sprinkle says. "We’re not giving up uncontested layups. We’re not going to give up uncontested shots. And we’re going to box out all five guys.”
“No one wants to be a bad defensive team," said junior forward Devin Kirby. "But in practice this year that’s the main thing I’m seeing is just the intensity and the drills, and what we do is all focused around the defensive side of the ball.”
Montana State's 2019 season starts on Wednesday, Oct. 30, with an exhibition against Yellowstone Christian.
