MISSOULA — Brian Buschini wasted no time in finding his next landing spot.

One day after the Montana punter announced he was entering the transfer portal, Buschini is transferring to Nebraska to continue his college football career. He tweeted on Monday that he had initially received a full-ride offer from the Cornhuskers after entering the portal.

"This is a dream come true!" Buschini wrote on Twitter. "Thank you god for blessing me with the opportunity to commit to (Nebraska, Scott Frost, Trent Mossbrucker) and coach Busch! I am so excited to come in and follow in the footsteps of my favorite punter in the NFL (Sam Koch)! GBR!!! #Thegoodlife."

Buschini, a Helena Capital product, was named the FCS punter of the year on Monday and on Tuesday was named a HERO Sports All-American after his 2021 campaign with the Grizzlies. Buschini set new UM school records in single-season and career yards per punt averages in a year where he frequently led the FCS in that category.

Buschini averaged 46 yards per punt and held a career average of 45.8 yards per punt.

In 69 punts this year, Buschini put opponents inside the 20-yard line 30 times, and had 28 punts go over 50 yards. Opponents fair caught 25 punts from him and he only had four touchbacks on the year.

Buschini also handled kickoff duties at UM with 75 on the year.
