MISSOULA — The Montana soccer team lost five players to graduation last year and now has 11 true freshmen on the roster for 2019.
While the Grizzlies are young there is a still a good amount of experience on this team, including junior Alexa Coyle and senior goalie Claire Howard.
Headed into 2019 it seems the upperclassmen are meshing well with the freshmen.
"Being a goalkeeper kind of puts you in a leadership role early because you are in that isolated position people tend to look at. So I'm excited and really to continue on in that and help bring the younger people up to speed and get us going again," said Howard.
"All the rumors you hear about coming in as a freshman to a college sport, this team has definitely shattered those. It's honestly shocking how nice everyone is to us and helpful, and they want us to do well. Given there are a lot of us -- so if none of the freshmen are succeeding, that's half the team -- that's kind of falling apart so that's nice, but honestly they are amazing. It's so great to get to know all of them," said freshman Quinn Peacock.
