MISSOULA — Only days remain before Montana is back on the football field for its first test of the 2019 football season. That first opponent will be South Dakota as the Griz head to Vermillion, S.D. for the Week 1 matchup.
Montana comes in ranked No. 25 in the STATS FCS poll but has set the bar high this year as it returns a ton of talent. The Grizzlies have brought in a few transfers, as well.
Coach Hauck and the Griz will be looking to grab a win on the road in Week 1, but perhaps more importantly, they'll find out who they are as a team.
"I don't think you know your team until they play some. ... I'm excited to watch our guys play," said Hauck. "I really have a high regard for the people on our team, just as individuals, and how much they enjoy playing for and with each other. So I'm just kind of excited to see them play, and, as I responded to the earlier question, we need to go execute our plays in all three phases, and if we do that we'll have a chance to win."
Montana and South Dakota kick off Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. (MDT).
