Montana Grizzlies' linebacking corps wants to earn preseason hype

MISSOULA — The Montana Grizzlies' linebacking corps of Dante Olson, Jace Lewis and Josh Buss had a solid season last fall.

Buss came in on the Buck Buchanan Award watch list, but playing through injury all year seriously limited him.

But Olson filled that gap in no time. He had a breakout season where he broke the school record for tackles in a year and ended up as a finalist on the Buchanan Award list.

Olson has also been named the Big Sky Conference preseason defensive MVP, but he attributes all the success to his teammates and isn't letting the chatter get to his head.

"It's obviously a huge honor for the honors last year and the preseason stuff, but the way that I think about preseason stuff is nothing's been done about it this year," said Olson. "The only reason I was able to get any of those awards was because of the guys around me last year and what we did. Obviously wasn't how we wanted to finish, but I'm just taking it one step at a time. Haven't done anything this year and haven't done anything to earn those, so just got to get better every single day.'
