CASPER, Wyo. – Miles City tie-down roper Haven Meged came into the College National Finals Rodeo in fifth in the World PRCA standings, so it was no surprise to see him in the lead heading into Saturday’s championship short go. But the gold buckle is still sweet.

Meged won the CNFR national title with a 10.2 second run. Meged took his time, needing to finish in just 13.2 seconds to win. The Tarleton State junior finished with 36.7 seconds on four head, including a go-round win in Round 2.

Wyoming also brought home a title, as Sheridan College’s Chance Ames won the bareback crown. Ames scored 82.5 points aboard Wrangler Valley in the short-go, finishing with 319 on four head. The Big Piney native beat Panola College’s Tyler Johnson by 7.5 points.

Sheridan’s Coby Johnson also led entering the final round, but the bull rider was bucked off Show Ring in 5.8 seconds to drop into third in the final standings.
