SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Just one week after winning Glendale’s Ak-Chin Invitational, presented by Cooper Tires, veteran rider Joao Ricardo Vieira (Itatinga, Sao Paulo, Brazil) continued his hot streak and collected his second PBR (Professional Bull Riders) elite tour win of the 2019 season at the PBR Unleash The Beast Sacramento Invitational inside Golden 1 Center.

Vieira rode Rake It Up (Tugger X Bucking Bulls) for 82.75 points in Round 3 before conquering 100X Helmets Boothill (Bridwell Pro Rodeos) in the championship round for 89 points on Sunday afternoon.

After going 4-for-4 over the weekend, Vieira earned 625 world points, making a jump from the No. 6 spot in the PBR world standings to No. 2, and taking home a paycheck of $36,700

Vieira is now a mere 722 points behind 2017 PBR World Champion and world No. 1 Jess Lockwood (Volborg, Montana).

Three-time PBR World Champion Silvano Alves (Pilar do Sol, SP, Brazil) finished second overall with a 3-for-4 performance. After choosing Air Assault (444 Bucking Bulls/Winston/Davis/Durham/D&H Cattle Co) in the championship round, Alves made the 8-second mark for 89 points. Earlier in Round 3, Alves conquered Rocket (Julio Moreno/Dallas Schott) for 81.5 points. The rejuvenated rider made an impressive move from No.52 in the world standings to No. 7 after earning 420 world points and $21,030.

Luciano de Castro (Guzolandia, SP, Brazil), who entered the weekend at No. 26 in the world standings, secured a third-place finish after going 3-for-4 at Golden 1 Center, moving to the No.12 spot. After riding Fire Water (D&H Cattle Co/Barthold / Almand) in Round 3 for 85.25 points, the determined rider put it all on the line by selecting Jive Turkey (Bridwell Pro Rodeos) in the championship round. His 88.75-point ride had the Sacramento crowd on its feet as he collected 270 world points and $12,870.

Ryan Dirteater (Hulbert, Oklahoma) secured a fourth-place finish as the dust settled on Sunday afternoon. Despite being bucked off by Strange Cargo (D&H Cattle Co/Gordon/ OK Corralis) in the championship round, The Cherokee Kid conquered Wicked Hou (Wallgren & Hale Bull Co/Randy Wood) for 84.75 points in Round 3 to move from No. 66 to No. 21 in the world standings. Dirteater went 2-for-4 over the weekend to earn a $9,000 paycheck and 195 world points.

Rounding out the Top 5 of the Sacramento Invitational was veteran rider Sean Willingham (Summerville, Georgia), who also turned in a 2-for-4 performance. While making the 8 on Judgement Day (Culp Bucking Bulls/ Zapata/Mendes) for 83.25 points in Round 3, he was later bucked off by Buck Owens (Wentz Bucking Bulls/New West Rodeos) after 2.05 seconds in the championship round. Willingham made an impressive jump from No. 103 in the world standings to No. 35 to tie with Koal Livingston (Burleson, Texas). He leaves the capital city with a paycheck for $6,500 and 130 world points.

The YETI “Built for the Wild” Bull of the Event was Legit (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Julie Rosen/Clay Struve/Leffew). Legit exploded from the chute and dispatched Lonnie West (Cadogan, Alberta) in 2.12 seconds during the championship round, earning a bull score of 46.5 points.
