CHICAGO, Ill. – Jess Lockwood has put a disappointing 2018 season behind him quickly.
One week after winning the inaugural 2019 PBR Unleash the Beast event at Madison Square Garden in New York City, Lockwood won the opening round at the PBR Chicago Invitational Saturday night with an 88.5-point ride aboard Show Me Homie. The 2017 world champion earned 100 world standings points and won $3,580 for the ride.
It was Lockwood’s second mount of the night, after earning a re-ride on his initial bull Freak of Nature.
Reigning PBR Rookie of the Year Jose Vitor Leme finished second with 87.25 points on Blue Crush. Three riders tied for third with 87 points.
Columbia Falls’ Matt Triplett was bucked off Pneu-Dart’s Ninja Kicks in 2.43 seconds.
Round 2 is set for Sunday at 12:45 p.m. MDT at the Allstate Arena, with the championship short-go set for 30 minutes after.
