SANTA CLARA, Calif. — The San Francisco 49ers placed Brock Coyle on Injured Reserve Wednesday after the linebacker suffered a significant injury in the season-opening game on Sunday.

The former Montana Grizzly and Bozeman High School standout left the 49ers’ game at Minnesota with a concussion. ESPN.com reported Wednesday Coyle also broke a bone in his back. He will miss at least six weeks.

Coyle started in the game versus the Vikings and made six tackles before the injury. He signed a three-year contract to stay in San Francisco this offseason. The undrafted free agent began his career with the Seattle Seahawks in 2014. He joined the 49ers before the 2017 season.
