EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Former Billings West standout Dylan Donahue recorded a sack and two tackles for loss, contributing to a New York Jets shutout of the Atlanta Falcons Friday, 17-0, in the teams’ first preseason game of the year.
Donahue entered the game in the second half and did all his damage in the fourth quarter. He sacked Falcons rookie quarterback Kurt Benkert on first down with 5:14 to play in the game. The drive eventually led to a Jets interception.
Donahue also made a tackle for loss on Falcons running back Jack Crawford earlier in the quarter.
This is the first game action for the Billings product since Oct. 1, 2017 when he suffered an elbow injury against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Donahue was placed on injured reserve for the rest of his 2017 rookie season.
It’s been a rocky offseason for Donahue, who pleaded guilty to two drunken-driving charges last week. The second stemmed from a wrong-way crash in the Lincoln Tunnel in February. Donahue awaits discipline from the NFL on both counts, which could result in a suspension.
