MISSOULA — Tres Tinkle's early NBA journey added another recent development.

Tinkle was signed and waived by the Toronto Raptors on Dec. 19, four days after he was waived by the Los Angeles Lakers. Per a report, the reasoning for that move for Tinkle, among other players, was so he could could sign with the Raptors 905, Toronto's G League affiliate. Tinkle would compete for their affiliate if he signed a G League contract as opposed to entering the G League draft pool. Per CBS Sports, the G League is tentatively planned to start in February.

A source close to the situation confirmed that plan with MTN Sports, saying that Tinkle had not yet signed a G League contract but that it could be forthcoming.

Toronto is a team familiar with Tinkle's ability as the Raptors were one of six organizations to host him when he declared for the NBA Draft in 2019 before opting to return to Oregon State for his final season with the Beavers.

Tinkle was signed to an Exhibit 10 contract by the Lakers after the conclusion of the 2020 NBA Draft but never competed in training camp or in preseason contests. The 2015 Missoula Hellgate graduate and two-time Gatorade player of the year is the all-time leading scorer in Oregon State men's program history with 2,233 points.
