ST. GEORGE, Utah – Billings golfer Brandon McIver shot a 6-under-par 64 Thursday to climb to fourth after three rounds at the first stage of Web.com Tour Qualifying at SunRiver Golf Club in St. George, Utah.

McIver followed Wednesday’s blistering 61 with five birdies, one bogey, and an eagle in the third round, putting him at -16, just three strokes off the lead and, more importantly, nine clear of the projected cut to advance to next month’s second stage.

The top 21 and ties move on to Stage 2 in the 72-player field. Bio Kim and Rhett Rasmussen are tied for the lead at -19, with Taylor Pendrith one shot back.

Stage 1 concludes with the final round Friday. If McIver advances, he will play the second stage at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas Nov. 6-9. The Web.com Tour Finals are set for Dec. 6-9 in Chandler, Ariz.

McIver won three Class AA individual state championships from 2009-11 at Billings West High School. He then played at the University of Oregon and was a member of the Ducks’ 2016 NCAA national championship team.
