BOZEMAN — Ennis native Jessie Royer and her 11 sled dogs crossed the finish line at the "Race to the Sky" dog sled races Monday night a little before 9:30 p.m. for her fifth overall first-place finish in the event.

It's Royer's fourth time winning the 300-mile race in her mushing career. She won the 500-mile Race to the Sky as a teenager in 1994 before winning the 300-mile race in 2015, 2016, 2018 and, now, 2020.

In addition, Royer was one of only two competitors to finish the grueling Idaho sled race back on Feb. 1. The only other finisher in that 300-mile race was fellow Montanan Josie Thyr from Olney.
