The Bozeman Icedogs split their weekend series in North American Three Hockey League (NA3HL) Frontier Division action.
The Icedogs lost 4-2 against the Helena Bighorns on Friday but rebounded to win 5-2 against the Great Falls Americans on Saturday.
In the game against Helena, the Bighorns started with two unanswered goals, keeping Bozeman off the scoresheet for the first and third periods. Duncan McGarrah and Luke Mckay would have the only two goals for the Icedogs.
On Saturday, the Icedogs stormed back, scoring five goals and holding the Americans to two. The Icedogs kept the high-powered Great Falls club off of the scoresheet in two of the three periods.
“Saturday was a huge win for us after a tough loss on Friday to Helena. We were able to bounce back collectively as an entire team, and guys stepped up when we needed them too,” said McGarrah. “Plus, it’s always nice to have Conan Hayton back in net to bail us out when we need him to. He’s always a huge part of every win we have.”
Butte drops two against Yellowstone
The Butte Cobras returned home to Butte to take on the Yellowstone Quake. The Cobras lost 5-4 on Friday and 5-3 on Saturday.
Danny Fielding made 54 saves in goal on Friday, while Butte’s Kyler Garsjo, Alec Sorby, Nick Bradshaw and Robby Arver would have goals for the Cobras. The Cobras had a late third period comeback push but ultimately fell short.
On Saturday, Austin Turner, Robin Bagley and Ty Stovin netted goals for the Cobras while Aiden Waal made 35 saves.
