Helena Senators snag doubleheader sweep against Medicine Hat

HELENA — After a wild first game with 21 hits and five errors, the Helena Senators held on to their lead to win 9-8 and sweep Medicine Hat.

Game two was all in favor of the Senators. The Moose Monarchs held the Senators scoreless in the first, but the Senators broke through in the second inning to tack on three runs across three hits and two sacrifice plays. The Senators tacked on five more in the bottom in the third inning behind a Ryan Barrett home run and a handful of well-timed singles.

Barrett led the charge for the Senators going 3-3 with two singles, a home run and four  RBI. Reece Whelen brought in Connor Dreever in the 4th inning for the Moose Monarchs’ only run in game two.

The Senators will host the Moose Monarchs for one final game of the three game stand on July 2 at 12 p.m.
