Great Falls Voyagers hand Chukars first loss

GREAT FALLS — The Great Falls Voyagers (5-5) jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning and held on to hand the Idaho Falls Chukars (9-1) their first loss of the Pioneer League Baseball season Tuesday night at Centene Stadium.

Sean Thompson (1-1) picked up his first win of the season on the mound, allowing four runs in six innings of work. Nathan Webb was saddled with the loss, allowing eight hits and six runs in 5.2 innings.

The Voyagers managed nine hits, led by Luis Mieses with two hits, one RBI and two runs.

Games 2 and 3 of the three-game series are set for Wednesday and Thursday at 7 p.m. at Centene Stadium before the teams relocate to Idaho Falls for another four-game series.
