HELENA — The Helena Senators beat the Butte Miners in weekday, seven-inning American Legion Baseball game by a score of 9-6 at Kindrick Legion Field on Thursday.
To quote a classic cliché, “it’s not how, but how many.” That accurately describes the Senators’ night as they scored nine runs on only six hits, thanks in part to 11 walks and five errors by the Miners.
Helena’s Zach Spiroff led the way, going 2-for-3 with two runs and a walk. Butte’s Ryan Wahl went 4-for-4 with two RBI and a run, as well.
Helena will play host to the Bitterroot Bucs on May 18 for a weekend doubleheader that starts at 1 p.m.
Butte’s scheduled Saturday doubleheader with the Billings Royals was canceled.
