MISSOULA — The Billings Royals came to Missoula on Saturday to begin a four-game series with the Missoula Mavs.
In the first game, both teams’ pitchers had it going on the mound early, as it was 2-0 Mavs through three. But in the fourth inning, the Royals’ offense exploded, scoring five runs with two coming on a throwing error from Mavs pitcher Dylan Chalmers.
Billings didn’t look back and piled on the runs to take Game 1, 14-3.
In the second game, the Mavs looked like a new team on offense, winning it 10-3.
