LEWISTON, Idaho — The Glacier Twins piled up 13 runs on 13 hits on Tuesday, winning the American Legion Baseball Northwest Class A Regional Tournament in convincing fashion, a 13-0 five-inning shutout over the Cody Cubs of Wyoming.

The Montana Class A state champions went right to work in Tuesday’s title game, driving in three runs in the opening inning. Terek Bistodeau started the scoring with a double to right field, driving in Coby Clark for the first run of the contest. Daniel Seymour drove a ground ball to left field three batters later, scoring Bistodeau and Jack Schwaiger for a 3-0 advantage.

Glacier’s pitching and defense was stellar in the championship, allowing only one hit — a Jordan Wasia single in the bottom of the first inning. Glacier recorded five strikeouts, all from Clark, while walking only two batters.

The Twins added two more runs in the second inning, an RBI single from Thomas Hellwig and a sacrifice fly from Bistodeau, who finished with a game-high three RBI on a 2-3 performance at the plate.

Ryan Veneman’s line drive triple in the top of the third scored Seymour and Quintin Schriver, pushing the Twins to a 7-0 lead. The advantage ballooned to 10-0 the following inning, with Matthew Morrison and Schriver knocking in three more runs.

Clark struck out two batters and recorded three straight outs in the bottom of the fourth, leading way for Bistodeau’s fielder’s choice that scored Veneman, pushing Glacier ahead 11-0. The Twins added two more runs in the inning, then recorded a fielder’s choice and two fly outs to end the contest.

Veneman’s three hits led the Glacier offense, which went 13-27 at the plate. Veneman, Seymour and Schriver each drove in a pair of runs in the win. Bistodeau and Schwaiger each scored three times in the game.

Tuesday marked the third regional championship from a Montana club in the past four years, after the Bitterroot Red Sox won titles in 2015 and 2016. Bitterroot defeated Glacier 4-2 on Monday night, snapping the Twins’ 25-game win streak, but the Red Sox fell 7-6 to Cody for the right to compete in Tuesday’s championship.
