MISSOULA – One team beat the heat all week at the Class AA American Legion Baseball Northwest Regional Tournament. Then, in much cooler conditions, the Mountain View Toros got even hotter.

The Idaho state champs wrapped up a regional championship with a dominant performance over the Selah Pepsi Pak of Washington. Mountain View claimed the title with a 10-0 win in a game that ended in the fifth inning due to the 10-run rule.

Braxton Mills, Riley Harrison, Charlie Tentinger and Blake Jablonski each collected a couple hits. Mountain View scored four runs in the first, three in the second, two in the third, and one run in the fourth to build the 10-run lead.

Jaydon Yancey did the rest with a dominant five-inning performance on the mound. He gave up only two hits, and Selah never advanced a runner past first base.

Mountain View becomes the second straight Idaho team to win the Northwest Regional tournament in Missoula, after Lewiston’s victory last year. The Toros now advance to the Legion Baseball World Series in Shelby, N.C. starting on Aug. 16.
