KALISPELL – Day 4 at the Montana-Alberta American Legion Baseball Class AA state tournament concluded Tuesday. The Billings Scarlets rolled to a 17-1 win over Kalispell, while Lethbridge handed the Billings Royals their first loss of the tournament.
KALISPELL LAKERS VS. BILLINGS SCARLETS – In the first game the host Lakers took on the Scarlets. It was a low-scoring game with only one run scored through the first four innings, but the Scarlets round a spark in the fifth inning. They scored 16 runs in the inning and to go on to win 17-1 by way of the run rule.
LETHBRIDGE ELKS VS. BILLINGS ROYALS – The second game was much closer. The Royals started the scoring with a run in the second inning but not much after. In the sixth inning, the Elks were down one but rallied to pick up the tying run and ultimatley force extra innings after a scoreless seventh. In extras, neither offense showing up the first inning, but the Elks exploded for eight runs in the ninth to get the 12-7 win. They play the Billings Scarlets at 4 p.m. Wednesday, with the winner advancing to play the Royals in the championship at 7 p.m.
