KALISPELL -The third day of the Montana-Alberta American Legion Baseball Class AA state tournament took place in Kalispell on Monday.
LETHBRIDGE ELKS VS. GREAT FALLS CHARGERS – In the first game the Elks took on the Chargers. The Elks sailed to an easy victory, 10-2. The Chargers scored first on a hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded. But the Elks offense was too powerful, scoring five runs in the third inning, letting their pitcher, Kyle Bloor, cruise through the game.
MISSOULA MAVS VS. KALISPELL LAKERS – In the second game it was the Missoula Mavs against the host Kalispell Lakers. It was a low scoring game, as the Lakers scored two runs in the first two innings, while the Mavs scored one in the fourth and one in the seventh. The one in the seventh tied the game and sent it into extra innings, where Laker’s third baseman Sam Elliot laid down a perfect suicide squeeze bunt to win the game, 3-2.
BILLINGS ROYALS VS. BILLINGS SCARLETS – In the final game it was the two Billings teams going at it. The Royals offense came out hot, as Jarret Leinwand blasted a three-run homer to open up the scoring in the bottom of the first inning. Brooks Zimmer went just under 105 pitches and tossed a complete game for the victory as the Royals won, 5-4.
