HAMILTON – The Glacier Twins have only given up three runs through three games at the Western A district tournament, and now the top seed is in the championship and definitely packing for a trip to state next week.
Glacier pitched a second straight shutout on Saturday evening, taking down the No. 2 seed and tournament host Bitterroot Red Sox 4-0. The top two teams in the bracket move on to the Class A state tournament in Miles City next week, so a spot in the championship clinches a spot at state for the Twins.
In loser-out games, the Missoula Mavericks clipped the Mission Valley Mariners, 7-5. Then the Bitterroot Bucs slipped past the Kalispell Lakers 6-5.
The two winners then met in another loser-out game Saturday night, and the Bucs won another nailbiter, 5-4.
The Bitterroot Bucs and Bitterroot Red Sox will now collide in a rivalry game with the season on the line at 4 p.m. Sunday. The winner moves on to play the championship against the Twins at 7 p.m., and also earns a ticket to state. The loser in the rivalry will be eliminated.
