ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Billings Royals ended the Gopher Classic Sunday with a 9-2 win over Lino Lakes, Minn., finishing the tournament at 2-3.
The Royals got six RBI and five runs scored from the top four hitters in the order, while Cade Torgerson and Tyler Frieders combined to pitch seven innings of two-hit ball. Torgerson pitched the first four innings, while Frieders closed the final three without allowing a baserunner.
The Royals now return home for a conference doubleheader with the Kalispell Lakers Thursday at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
