Billings Royals drop two at Gopher Classic

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Billings Royals lost two games at the Gopher Classic Saturday, dropping their overall record to 1-3 in the tournament.

The Royals lost to the Rosetown Rockets of St. Paul, 7-2 in their first game Saturday. They managed just three hits on Rosetown pitchers Kobe Olson and Alec Curtis, though one was a home run by Jayden Kay.

La Crescent, Minn. then beat the Royals 7-1 in the nightcap thanks to a complete game by Lauden Poellinger. The Royals managed just four hits in this game, with Jarret Leinwand picking up the lone RBI.

The Royals play Lino Lakes, Minn. Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. The tournament runs through Tuesday.
