Olympians to lead World Record Track & Field Camp in Billings

BILLINGS – For the third year, world record setter and three-time Olympic triple jumper Willie Banks will lead the Big Sky State Games World Record Track & Field Camp.

The camp will be held Friday, July 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Billings West High School. It features Banks along with two other Olympians and a pair of elite coaches including Mike Powell (World Record Holder and two-time Olympic Silver Medalist – Long Jump), Erin Shean (2000 USA Olympic Track Team – High Jump), Jacqueline Hansen (Boston Marathon winner) and distance running great and Gregg Simmons (Speed and Performance Specialist). The javelin and pole vault clinicians will be announced at a later date.

The $135.00 entry fee includes Friday camp, lunch, and BSSG Track and Field events. Coaches’ registrations are free with support from the Midland Round Table Top Ten Track Meet. Coaches are encouraged to register three or more of their athletes for the camp. Register at bigskygames.org under Track & Field. Registration for  closes July 17.

The Big Sky State Games Opening Ceremonies are Friday, July 19. Festivities include the Soaked Run, climbing wall, National Guard bungee run, family entertainment and games, Parade of Athletes, Montana Mile and Torch Lighting by Olympic medalist Marty Malloy. State Games participants are admitted free with their Opening Ceremonies tickets. All other tickets are $5 with children under 6 admitted free.
