BUTTE –  Butte’s annual Snoflinga festival is this weekend and among the many activities you can do, one of the coolest is always skijoring.

An open clinic was held today for beginners to get behind a horse and give this sport a try for the first time. For the rest of the weekend, competitors from all across the upper Midwest and Canada will travel to Butte for the open competition. Spectators will get to see a large variety of age groups compete in this event.

“Tomorrow morning at 10 o’clock, the race will begin and it will start with the open competitors, and as a general rule, will be the more experienced competitors,” skijoring event producer Corie Downey said. “And then we’ll move into the novice snowboard and youth division that will run and combine together, and basically that is what will replay on Saturday as well.”
