MISSOULA – A back-and-forth third period in the Glacier Ice Rink came down to the final second on Friday night. Literally.

Bozeman’s Connor Fuchs scored with one second left in regulation to give the Icedogs a 3-2 victory over the Missoula Bruins. The victory extended third-place Bozeman’s lead over fourth-place Missoula in the NA3HL Frontier Division standings.

Neither team scored for the first 34 minutes. Sterling Morin finally found the back of the net with a beuatiful move past two defenders and a top-shelf, point-blank goal past Evan Williams, giving Bozeman a 1-0 lead after two periods.

Missoula finally got on the board when Ty Dittman scored early in the third period. Ten minutes later, Misha Akatnov added his league-leading 43rd goal to give the Bruins a 2-1 lead. Less than a minute later, Brock Finn responded to tie it up for the Icedogs, setting up Fuchs’ heroics at the end.

The two teams will now travel to Bozeman for a rematch at 7:30 Saturday night.
