MISSOULA – The Missoula Bruins started the year short-handed, but after a couple imports arrived, the junior hockey club went on the power play. Russian star Misha Akatnov scored four goals to help the Bruins hold off the Bozeman Icedogs 8-7 on Friday night.

Akatnov scored twice in the first period to help Missoula take a 3-0 lead. Bozeman came back to tie the game 4-4 after a Nash Pine goal midway through the second period.

With the game tied 5-5 early in the third period, Akatnov finished off the hat trick to put Missoula up for good. Akatnov’s fourth goal made it 7-5. Bozeman wouldn’t go away, though. Hazen McKay scored his second goal of the night with just more than a minute remaining to cut the lead to 8-7, but the Bruins held on for the victory.

Missoula started the year 1-5, but since Akatnov has joined the lineup the Bruins have won three games in a row. The loss drops Bozeman to 4-2.
