MISSOULA – Wednesday night’s action in the arena at the Western Montana Fair belonged to the bulls. But a few cowboys still enjoyed the ride.

Garrett Smith and Ty Wallace tied with 83-point rides for the buckle at the Missoula Stampede PRCA Xtreme Bulls event. Only seven of 33 cowboys stayed upright for the full eight seconds to score.

Smith put up the number to shoot for early. The Rexburg, Idaho cowboy scored his 83 on Safety Meeting in the first section of riders.

No one came close in section two. Then Polson’s Brett Fitzpatrick came close with an 81 in the last group. Cain Smith of Pendleton, Ore. came closer with an 82.

Collbran, Colo. cowboy Wallace, the second to last rider of the night, matched Smith with 83 points on Google Maps.

The Missoula Stampede continues with full rodeos at the Western Montana Fair Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Each performance starts at 7:00 p.m.
