GREENSBORO, N.C. — Helena is home to another national champion.
Tyse Todorovich, who competes for the Helena Vigilantes, claimed the age 8-and-under shot put title at the USA Track and Field Hershey National Junior Olympic Championships on Thursday.
Todorovich marked a best throw of 28 feet, 1 inch to win the title, out-throwing the second-place competitor by nearly four feet. All six of Todorovich’s throws — which ranged from 26-04 1/2 to the winning 28-01 — would have been good enough to win the event.
Todorovich also placed 14th in the javelin on Wednesday, marking a throw of 63-11.
Todorovich and his older sisters, Logan and Madilyn, are among a handful of Montana athletes competing at the Junior Olympic Championships. The national meet started on July 23 and concludes on July 29.
