BILLINGS – Barbara Berreth, a longtime Billings Mustangs fan who most remember for her patented home-team cheers, died Sunday night after complications from a stroke, according to Mustangs personnel.
Berreth suffered the stroke at Saturday night’s game at Dehler Park.
General Manager Gary Roller, who has been with the team for nearly three decades, says Berreth was attending games long before his time with the team. She became a 50/50 ticket seller at Cobb Field in 2000, and was the top salesperson immediately.
“Barbara was arguably the most dedicated and devoted Mustangs fan that we’ve ever had,” said Roller. “It was rare that she missed a game, and when she did it was only family obligations that kept her from attending. She adored the fans and families who attended the games, particularly the children, and she loved everyone associated with the Mustangs organization, including the coaches, players and employees.
“Whether she was selling 50/50 tickets or leading the crowd in her custom cheers, Barb was a fixture at Cobb Field and now Dehler Park. In a way, she was synonymous with Mustangs Baseball. Barbara seemed as popular amongst the fans as the players themselves are. We have considered her a member of the Mustangs extended family for many, many years, and she will forever hold a special place in our hearts.”
