(Billings Mustangs release)

HELENA – The Billings Mustangs (9-15) were unable to complete the series sweep of the Helena Brewers (13-11), falling 6-3 on Sunday in front of 371 at Kindrick Legion Field.

Jared Solomon came into the game on a three-game winning streak with the Mustangs 4-0 in his starts. The righty went five innings, striking out seven and giving up just one unearned run. Solomon has now struck out 23 over his last 17 innings and given up one earned run over his last 23 innings.

The Brewers found a 1-0 lead in the second after an error allowed LG Castillo two bases. Castillo ended up scoring two of the Brewer runs and hitting in three of them in a 2-for-4 performance.

Billings locked the game up at 1-1 when Reshard Munroe hit his second homerun of the season, a solo shot in the third. They have now hit homeruns in three consecutive games for the first time this season.

Trailing by a run going to the eighth, the Mustangs found a way to tie the game on just one hit, aided by two walks and a wild pitch. Munroe was singled in by Pabel Manzanero on his second hit of the day. Manzanero has a team-high eight multi-hit games now on the year.

The 3-3 tie would not last long, however, as the Brewers plated three in the eighth with the first six batters of the inning reaching. Castillo delivered his second and final RBI hit of the night to cap the scoring. Helena scored five of their six runs in the seventh inning or later in the game.

The Mustangs now travel back to Billings to begin a seven-game homestand starting Tuesday at Dehler Park. First pitch against the Grand Junction Rockies is set for 7:05 p.m.
