BILLINGS – Dawson Smith’s two-run single in the bottom of the fifth inning was enough for the Billings Royals to take the rubber match with Twin Falls, Idaho Sunday, 3-1 at Dehler Park.

The Royals took a 1-0 lead in the first after Carson Klompien scored on a sacrifice fly from Jayden Kay. Twin Falls tied it in the fourth on a Connor Root RBI single, before Smith gave the home team the lead for good one inning later.

He finished 3-3, while Klompien was 2-3 with two runs scored.

Dann Blanchard, Connor Hunter, and Chandler Callicott combined to give up just seven hits in seven innings, while walking none and striking out six.

The Royals return to conference play Tuesday with a double-header at Medicine Hat. Games are schedule for 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
