Billings Royals earn split with Twin Falls

BILLINGS – The Billings Royals earned a split with Twin Falls, Idaho Saturday, falling 5-4 in game one before pulling out a 5-2 victory in game two of the double-header at Dehler Park.

Twin Falls jumped out to a 5-0 lead after three innings in game one, before the Royals made a valiant comeback attempt. They scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth and two more in the seventh on a Niklas Nordstog single with two outs. Nordstog, who finished 2-4 with 3 RBI’s in the game, represented the tying run on second when Brooks Zimmer flew out to center to end the game.

The Royals turned the tables in game two, taking a 3-0 lead on a three-run double by Cole Miller in the bottom of the fourth. Twin Falls trimmed the deficit to 3-2 in the top of the sixth on a Cade Greenfield two-run homerun, but Michael Morehead’s two-run single in the bottom of the sixth shut the door. Tucker Smith pitched six innings to get the win.

The teams play one more game against each other tomorrow at 11:00 a.m.
