Billings girls, Bozeman boys advance to semis of Far West Presidents Cup

SALT LAKE CITY – Two Montana teams won quarterfinal matches Friday at the Far West Presidents Cup soccer tournament in Salt Lake City.

The Billings United Black U18 girls defeated Rush Pike Peak 2000 of Colorado, 2-1. The Magic City squad qualified by being ranked No. 1 in Montana.

Meanwhile, the Blitzz FC Gold U13 boys team topped Aggies FC of Utah 1-0 on penalty kicks. The Blitzz, out of Bozeman, have yet to lose in four games at the tournament, with two wins and two draws.

Billings will play Sting Timbers of Idaho in Saturday’s semifinal at 10:15 a.m. The Timbers have outscored opponents 17-0 in four games so far.

The Blitzz will play the Northbay Timbers out of Northern California, with game time scheduled for 8 a.m Saturday.
