HELENA — The Helena Brewers may have been trickling into the Capital City over the past few days, but they gathered at Kindrick Legion Field for their official team photo on Wednesday afternoon.

It’ll be the organization’s last team photo as the Helena Brewers. The team is relocating to Colorado Springs next season, so this year is going to be something special for the city and fans, a fact that is not lost on the team.

“Last season, making it special. … We need to try and pay the city back for all they did the past 15, 18 years hosting the team and provide enough quality effort to make this happen, especially in the first year of their career for most of the guys,” said Brewers manager Nestor Corredor. “So they know this year is special and very emotional, especially for the guys that have been in Helena enough like me, four of five years in Helena. So we’ll do the best we can to make this season fun and enjoyable for the city.”

“It’s a lot on our backs, for sure,” returning infielder Chad McClanahan said. “Last two years that I’ve been here, the last, past year, I’ve had a really good time. The fans have been awesome here. My host family has been great. I love this town, so we definitely want to go out on a good note, for sure, for these guys because they’ve put a lot into us and hopefully we can give a lot back.”

The Brewers open their season officially on Friday night with a road game against the Great Falls Chargers.
