Early bats carry Billings Royals past Helena Senators 7-1

HELENA — The Billings Royals came into Helena bats swinging Tuesday afternoon, jumping out to a 5-1 lead in the second inning on their way to a 7-1 American Legion Baseball victory over the Senators.

Billings’ Jayden Kay, Jarret Leinwand and Cole Miller eached knocked in two runs. Connor Polkowske rounded out the scoring with an RBI of his own.

The lone run was knocked in for the Senators by Colin Sassano in the first.

Tyler Frieders was the winning pitcher, throwing 93 pitches in seven innings and giving up one run and one walk with five strikeouts.
